History
Showa 4 (1929) | The "National Association of Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturers" was established by volunteers from alcoholic beverage manufacturers across the country. (Note: At the time, Spirits and Liqueurs was classified as an "alcoholic beverage" under the Alcohol and Alcoholic Beverage Tax Law.) |
Showa 15 (1940) | With the enforcement of the Liquor Tax Law, the National Association of Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturers was dissolved and the "National Association of Miscellaneous Liquor Manufacturers" was established (Note: Spirits and Liqueurs were classified as "miscellaneous liquors"). |
Showa 18（1943） | Following the promulgation of the Liquor Industry Association Law, the National Association of Miscellaneous Liquor Manufacturers was dissolved, and the "Japan Association of Miscellaneous Liquor Manufacturers" was established. |
Showa 23（1948） | By order of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, the Japan Miscellaneous Liquor Brewers Association was closed. A group of miscellaneous liquor manufacturers then established the "Japan Spirits and liqueurs Association." |
Showa 28（1953） | Based on the "Act on Securing of Liquor Tax and on Liquor Business Associations" which was enacted along with the "Liquor Tax Law," the "Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association" was established. (Note) While the name of the type of alcoholic beverage under the Liquor Tax Law remained "miscellaneous liquor," the 1962 revision of the Liquor Tax Law reclassified "miscellaneous liquor" into "whisky," "brandy," "spirits," "liqueurs," "sweet fruit wines," and "miscellaneous liquor." |
